“There is no grand plan—just being here is as good as it gets.” As I contemplate a big decision and am uncertain where either path will lead, I find myself coming again and again to this same conclusion. I could tell my story as a series of decisions that have led to where I am and make it sound either successful or like a failure, depending on what I include or exclude. I think most of us could. But the reality is that I’m just here. I think most of us are.

It also gives me pause to realize how easy it is to fall in traps of making millisecond judgements on people and the decisions they took given the choices they had.

It is refreshing to read this after lifelong rhetoric of the clichéd comment “Failures are the pillars of success”.

Which I find to be another product of American exceptionalism peddled as the only option available for the rest of the masses. Remember all the business books sold at the railway station wheeler bookstores back in the 90s?

Thank you for reading.

One thing I sometimes believe in. Failures should be celebrated as most don’t even try.

I postponed reading this as the topic still hits a little too close. I wish I could write a comment as eloquent as your post but I will just accept my failure at this and say that your piece did touch me but so much more positively than I had expected. <3

A hug and a nod from across the proverbial room while I raise my glass to you. It is an honour to have met you, Juliana, in this life. Thank you for leaving this here.
